Origin Sport

Origin Sport was established in 2011 with the heart to provide inclusive opportunities for tamariki (children) to participate in active reaction, sport and play

We aim to remove barriers to participation and focus on keeping activities local and available to all

Key Values:

Positivity

  • For tamariki of all abilities to have positive experiences in sport and active play

  • To build a foundation of skills and confidence so tamariki can represent themselves on their school or community teams with pride​

Development

  • We use active play to develop character qualities such as confidence, determination and teamwork

  • Developing basic sporting skills and experiencing how being active can help with living a healthy lifestyle

Opportunity

  • To develop skills and encourage those capable to achieve at higher levels​​

  • Provide opportunities for leadership development through referring and coaching 

  • Provide opportunities to give back to the community by volunteering​​

School aged Sport

We work in conjunction with local primary schools to provide sporting and active play experiences for tamariki

 

Origin Sport runs an Interschool sports cluster offering a range of traditional and non-traditional sports where tamariki can interact with students from other local schools

Community Sport

We value the needs and desires of the community.   We adapt and respond to the interests expressed

Origin Sport runs a Touch Rugby Tournament which is geared towards Year 0-8 tamariki and runs over the summer months at Centennial Park​

 

Origin Sports runs Ki-o-Rahi tournaments all year round at various locations in Christchurch. This is from Year 5 all the way through to adult teams
